Musings

Now & Then

Airborne over Kentucky

Did yesterday exist? I was there. I remember yesterday clearly. But my only contact with yesterday is thinking about it. And yesterday's only relationship with the day before that was the same: thinking about it.

And when is all of this thinking going on? NOW.

Yesterday, when I was thinking about the day before, it was all happening in yesterday's "now."

But thinking about yesterday's "now" is happening in today's now. I can relate to that older "now" only in my current now.

So, was I really there?

It's almost too much for a blonde person like me to handle.

This is not just speculation: I cannot prove that yesterday even existed.

Ditto for tomorrow because thinking about tomorrow (in the Now) is my only relationship with that alleged event.

All I seem to have is the now. And those uppity people who accuse others of "wallowing in the past" or "living only for the future" are dangerously underestimating the grip that The Now has on us all.
