Listen or Talk?

Airborne over Nevada

Turbulence in the sky, a baby two rows back is leaving no possibility of anyone thinking that she is amused by any of this. The poor souls on the ground can probably hear her ... mistaking her screams for thunder. That would be thunder from the very same storm that produced the turbulence being protested so vociferously two rows back.

Everything is so inter-twinged.

At 30,000+ feet, it seems like earth's grip is not as strong. Below us, people are being rained on, hailed on, blown to and fro, and chased by bolts of lightening. We are insulated from all that fury - although we are required to endure being jostled about by the turbulence and the loud protests of the toddler.

This high up - I wonder if I am closer to heaven. I wonder if the veil that divides "here" and "there" is thinner.

And if I can more clearly converse with the gods, is the time better served by talking or listening?

I wonder. If I had five minutes alone with the Supreme Being, would I ask for things really needed by humanity or sponge up whatever the Being had on its mind at that particular moment?

Tough question.
